Common questions

Which calculator tells me how many lots of gold to trade?

The position size calculator. You enter your account balance, the percentage you are willing to risk and your stop distance in dollars, and it returns a lot size on XAU/USD, where one standard lot is 100 oz. Use it before every trade, because the answer changes with the stop distance.

What is the pip value calculator for if gold moves in dollars?

It converts a price move into money. On XAU/USD one pip is 0.01, so a 0.10-lot position moves $0.10 per pip, or $10 for a full dollar. The pip value calculator shows that in dollars per pip for your lot size, which is the number you need to compare a stop with your risk budget.

How is the margin calculator different from the position size calculator?

Margin is what your broker sets aside to hold the position, while position size is what you choose to risk. The margin calculator shows the deposit required at the leverage cap applying to the entity serving the Philippines; for example, a 0.10-lot gold position needs about $85.50 margin. That figure says nothing about your potential loss.

Can the profit calculator show my result in pesos?

It shows the result in dollars first, because XAU/USD is quoted in USD, and you convert to ₱ at the rate you actually get. Take the dollar profit from the profit calculator, then apply your broker's or bank's conversion. The peso figure depends on the rate on the day you withdraw, not on the day you closed.

What do pivot point levels add that the other tools do not?

Pivot points give you reference prices for the session, calculated from the prior period's high, low and close, so you can see where price has reacted before. They answer a different question from the sizing tools: not how big, but where. Use them to place stops and targets, then size the trade with the position size calculator.
